August Wrap-Up

It’s September!

Yay for cooler weather, cozy jumpers, and sitting in front of the fire with a book and a mug of hot chocolate filled to the brim with marshmallows! That is my idea of perfection. I love autumn and everything about it.

This month wasn’t the best for reading – I only managed to finish four books, which I guess isn’t too shabby.

Unintentionally, I had a bit of a red theme going on with these!

I LOVED this book! I can’t even begin to tell you just how much I loved it. Everything from the world, to the plot, to the characters. I can hands down say that this is up there as one of my favourite books! Don’t judge it by it’s cover – it’s spectacular.

By Karen M. McManus

What a surprising book! It had been on my TBR for a while, but there was always something that kept me from picking it up, so when it was recommended on Twitter by Emily over at Yes Whale, I picked it up and finished it within 16 hours. The characters truly made this, and Karen M. McManus knows just how to keep a reader needing more.

I have to be honest… I hated this book. I really wanted to DNF this book, but I tend not to do that unless I really have to. The beginning, for me, was downright terrible. It was slow and boring. I didn’t connect to any of the characters. But I kept reading and I found the last quarter of the book wasn’t as bad as the beginning. I liked certain aspects of the plot. The premise was actually pretty good. I just thought the execution was poor.

A girl who can see ghosts, a best friend who is a ghost, an adventure they’ll never forget, and a heap of Harry Potter references… what more could I want? I really enjoyed reading this, it was well paced, well written, and didn’t give too much away too soon. My only problem was that, at 285 pages, it was too short!

And I’m currently reading:

I’m about ten chapters into this and absolutely loving it! I had such high hopes for this book from all the reviews I’ve read of it and it has not disappointed yet.

By Tomi Adeyemi

I’ve just started reading this and I have no idea what to expect. The cover really drew me in, as did the synopsis. I’ve tried to steer clear of reviews because I know there are a lot of people who love it, so I’m trying not to know too much about it before reading it myself. I want to experience the same journey everyone else has through reading it. From what I’ve read so far, I know it’s going to be amazing!

So there we have it, these are all the books I’ve read in August, and the ones I’m starting September reading. I feel like September is starting off strong with these choices. Full reviews of everything will be up soon – I can’t wait to let you all know just what I thought of them.

How did you do in August? Are there any books on this list you’ve read or want to read?
