I was tagged by the lovely Sam to do this. Sam is one of my all-time favourite bloggers and I absolutely loved reading her post on this, which you can find here. Please head over to her blog and show her some love if you’re not already following her.
FAVOURITE BOOKS OF ALL TIME
I’m supposed to choose?! What even is this?
You know this would just be a post featuring all of the Harry Potter books if I had to choose my all-time favourite, but I want to do something different instead. I’ll give you my top two picks from last year, mostly because I couldn’t decide between them.
FAVOURITE BOOK FROM FIVE YEARS AGO
It wasn’t a book that came out in 2014 but it was one that I was obsessed with.
Do I even need to explain this one?
It’s Harry Potter. It’s always Harry Potter.
But I really enjoyed the Grisha trilogy last year and I’m so glad I read them because WE’RE GETTING A NETFLIX SERIES!
LAST BOOK YOU READ
I adore this world that Holly Black has created.
LAST BOOK OF POETRY YOU READ
Are you ready for this?
You might want to hold on for it.
I’ve never read a poetry book. I just don’t enjoy poetry all that much.
WHAT BOOK MOST INFLUENCED YOUR LIFE
Okay, so this one is definitely Harry Potter. It was the book that shaped my entire childhood. The enchanting world that J.K Rowling has shared with us was the place I escaped to as a young child when my anxiety was at its worst. When my parents divorced, I found solace in the pages of the books. It was the Harry Potter books that helped to teach me some of the most important lessons in my life, about family and friendship; life and death. I may make a post about this at some point because I’d love to share ALL the reasons why this series is so special to me in more detail.
Prisoner of Azkaban because it’s my favourite of the seven books!
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU UGLY CRY
I sobbed both times I read this book. Always at the same place, too.
A BOOK THAT MADE YOU LAUGH
The book wasn’t humorous – the character was.
Nikolai Lantsov, my love.
(Nikolai is from the Grisha trilogy, if you haven’t read it)
A CHARACTER YOU WOULD LIKE TO BE FOR A DAY
Ooh, this is a tough one. Most of the characters I read about go through some tough shit, so would I really want to be them?
Well, maybe just for the day.
I’m torn between Luna, because she has such a unique perspective on life that I’d love to experience.
Lila from the Shades of Magic series. I really enjoyed Lila and how badass she is.
A BOOK SO GOOD YOU DREAMT ABOUT IT
Because of the medication I’m on, I don’t remember dreams all that much.
And the ones I do remember have not had anything to do with books haha!
A BOOK YOU DNF’D (DID NOT FINISH)
I tend not to DNF books, especially if I own them, because I always hope that they’ll get better the further into the book I get.
This year, I’ve decided to change my mindset. If I’m not enjoying a book then I’m going to DNF it.
Recently I DNF’d Crow Flight. I received an ARC from NetGalley and I had such high expectations for it because I’d seen some people list it on their anticipated reads for December 2018. I was so disappointed in it. I couldn’t get invested in the characters. The story was lacking. Overall, it was not a good read for me.
WHAT BOOKS ARE YOU MOST EXCITED TO READ
What am I NOT excited to read?
The two I’m most excited for are:
My boy Nikolai. And look at that cover! I AM IN LOVE. I can’t wait!
I’m reading the exclusive extract from the book from NetGalley at the moment and LOVING it.
I’m SO excited for this book.
I’m going to tag:
And you – if you want to do this tag, do it!
